Boathouse Woodworks / Jim Cameron · Idem Restoration Project

4

SCOPE: RESTORATION OF IDEM SHADOW
This project involves the authentic restoration and refurbishment to original racing condition of a 32 foot antique wooden sailing sloop.

SERVICE: In 1899 Spalding St. Lawrence Boat Company built SHADOW as its first model of the Idem class. She sailed her first half century very competitively, then was stored away for more than fifty years.

SHADOW returns to actively compete in the oldest sailing class in the world still using original craft this August, 2004, after a year-long restoration project under the direction of expert boatwright and experienced crew member Jim Cameron. In her very first race, with Jim holding the mainsail, she placed first among eight other boats of her class -- second and third places going to sloops, PEEK-A-BOO and WALDO, both prior recipients of extensive restoration by Jim Cameron.
