Adirondack Guideboat

Order a traditionally crafted Adirondack Guideboat. Enjoy the sleek beauty and pride of ownership in a meticulously reproduced Adirondack guideboat by master craftsman Jim Cameron.

More elegant and faster than a canoe, a single rower can transport as much as a thousand pounds over water in a traditionally-built Adirondack guideboat ... and yet balance its less than one hundred pounds on the boat's carrying yoke ... and you can portage (carry) it from pond to pond.

Adirondack Guideboat

Your Adirondack guideboat will be built literally from the ground up beginning with the selection and digging of the Spruce tree roots utilized in its ribbed framing -- and, although an aesthetic collectible, will be extremely sturdy and built for use.

No adhesives of any kind are used in this traditional reproduction of the rare original.

All seats are handmade with open weave caning, are comfortable with a pleasant "give" and, most importantly, do not hold water.

A special set of oars will be carved for each Adirondack guideboat and fitted with fixed brass pins for smooth entry into the scrolled brass oarlocks.

And your Adirondack guideboat will be finished with the same degree of attention and care as fine furniture, inside and out.

All Boathouse Woodworks Adirondack guideboats are numbered and bear Jim Cameron's trademark arrow and medallion on the forward deck.

    Each Adirondack guideboat boat includes:
  • Three hand-caned boat seats and backrest, constructed onsite
  • One pair of 7'6" oars with brass fixed pins
  • Seven separate sand/varnish steps to the gleaming marine finish ... inside and out
  • All fittings and hardware of brass
  • A welcome to Boathouse Woodworks shop during all phases of your boat's creation; progress photos, and direct personal access to Jim Cameron on all boat matters.
