Our last day here — what a pity. One week ago, my wife and I were preparing to
be married. That stress and anxiety seems very far away now. Neither of us can imagine
a more romantic, relaxing or rejvenating place to have spent our honeymoon. We arrived
on Monday, tighter than two ticks. Over the last week we've unwound, grinned at each other,
looked at our rings, and marveled at the beauty and peacefulness of this place.
It is easy to point out the "big ticket items": the walk up St. Regis, the
vistas afforded there, Lynn and Jim's gracious hospitality, the coziness of the cabin,
the headshaking beauty of sunrise, etc., but it is the culmination of all the small discoveries
that makes this place so wonderful — listening to the loons' wild cries for the first
time, seeing the clouds' shadows move across the lake and over the mountains to the east,
realizing how clear the water at Bear Pond is, understanding that this slow pace has not
been lost. Ted's Cabin renews one's faith that sprawl and hustle and hurry haven't spoiled
every corner of the country. It reaffirms one's belief in the medicinal quality of days
spent quietly, amidst trees and water.
For us, this place has provided the idyllic setting for the first chapter of the story
of our marriage. We could not have dreamed of a better beginning.
Thank you, Lynn and Jm.
Best Regards,
